While CBD for pets is widely accepted as a useful and safe remedy for our dogs and cats, it is also relatively new so veterinarians are significantly limited by law in their ability to recommend CBD. Whole Plant products are intended to be products formulated from a cannabis extract that contain the various components originally found in the plant such as cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

Whole Plant CBD products theoretically contain the largest diversity of compounds. This is important, as even the most minor cannabinoids and terpenes have the potential of “boosting” the effects of the major cannabinoids, CBD and THC. This phenomenon is called the “entourage effect” which means that various cannabis compounds work together in a synergistic fashion.

Rooted Owl™ Calming Hemp Oil is different from others because it is the only product available for 'calming' pets with this combination of ingredients and offers precise dosing for each pet by weight and age.

CBD has been shown to provide a sense of calmness and relaxation to support canine wellbeing. All CBD extracts and products are not the same! Just as we are all different and individual as humans, so are the different hemp plants. We selected our CBD from a hemp extract that maintains consistent efficacy and quality.

Terpenes are fragrant oils found in plants (including cannabis) that have a unique smell and flavor and are known to provide substantial medicinal benefits of their own. Based on research and years of experience, we identified the specific terpenes that have shown to be most effective with creating calmness.

Ashwagandha has been around for centuries in Indian medicine and is now widely recognized as an effective and natural remedy during stressful situations for both humans and animals.

Our hemp is 100% USDA certified organic and grown on an independent American Kentucky soil farm that has been tested to confirm it is free of chemicals, pesticides and trace metals.

The family owned farm we obtain our hemp from has 13 consecutive generations of farming experience. Their network of hand-selected farmers have pioneered hemp cultivation, production and agrotech, with environmentally friendly Good Agriculture Practice compliant growing methods. Our hemp is organically and sustainably grown under the sun with no contaminants.

Ashwagandha has been around for centuries in Indian medicine and is now widely recognized as an effective and natural remedy during stressful situations for both humans and dogs. It may support your dog’s ability to better manage physical, chemical and environmental stress. A recent study revealed Ashwagandha root supplementation was associated with a significant reduction of fear and anxiety in dogs.

Based on published research, it is exceedingly unlikely for drug-herb interactions to occur. However, there is the potential for increased sedation or lethargy if combined with any medication that can cause sedation on its own. If you have specific interaction questions, please contact your primary veterinarian to discuss.

There is no known negative interaction between our Rooted Owl™ Calming Hemp Oil and supplements, Chinese herbs, Western herbs or other holistic treatments.

Yes, we pride ourselves on being transparent. Every single batch of our Rooted Owl™ Calming Hemp Oil is tested and it is available for viewing here under the "Certificate of Analysis" dropdown.

As cannabinoids have an impact on the body's nervous system (and how connections are formed within the brain), it is generally best to wait to use cannabis in dogs that are fully developed. There are potential exceptions where the benefit of cannabis use may outweigh the risk. Speak to your primary veterinarian for further guidance. 

Some senior pets tend to be more sensitive to the effects of cannabis. Therefore if you have a pet over the age of 10 years old, consider starting with half (½) the recommended dose and increase the dose as directed until you find your pet's optimal dose. 

All of the ingredients are completely safe to use in cats but the product is more potent than what most cats need. If you decide to give this product to your cat, please start with a dose of 0.05ml twice daily and follow the "Directions for Use” for details and instructions. Please stay tuned for cat specific formulations coming soon.

Drowsiness, drooling, dry mouth, diarrhea, changes in appetite, restlessness, urinary incontinence and incoordination are all potential side effects.

If you notice any side effects, consider reducing the dose by half (½) and slowly increase the dose as directed until you find your pet's optimal dose.

The product carries a two year shelf life from the date of manufacture.

Freeze-dried treats are minimally processed. The ingredients are frozen at low temperatures, not cooked, keeping just healthy nutrients without any artificial preservatives.

Both CBD and CBG are safe and effective choices for pets. Our Mobility & Calm Treats come with specific dosing instructions for cats and dogs by weight.

Unlike other treats, our treats contain 4 specially selected ingredients, 2 of which are CBD and CBG. While the benefits of CBD are well known, we have also chosen CBG as it has been known to exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Rooted Owl™ Mobility & Calm Treats are formulated with specific and clear dosing instructions for dogs and cats by weight so an overdose is unlikely. There is no evidence that pets get addicted to cannabis. If your pet consumes more than the recommended dose and shows symptoms of being unwell, please contact your primary veterinarian to discuss.

Reseal pouch after every use to maintain freshness. Use or freeze within 6 months of opening.

The delivery takes between 1 and 5 days depending on where it's going.  Every order will receive a shipment tracking number that can be used to see the estimated delivery date. In unusual circumstances like bad weather there may be a delay.
